Happy New Year Everyone. I am starting this year with a non-marketing post because I wanted to share with you how I plan on conquering my "resolution breaking" fears by not making resolutions, rather I am making simple daily changes to help fuel my business, mind and soul. I was thinking about this last year, the resolutions I wanted to make, and thought, NOPE, it’s too much pressure, I want to try it different this year. So instead of making resolutions that end up feeling like a ball a chain after a few weeks, I decided to find small simple ways to make changes on a daily basis.
Here is how I am conquering my resolution breaking fear with these 7 simple tips. 1. Figure out your why You may already know this, but if are still looking, take a moment to write down your WHY, your reason for everything you do. Ask yourself if what you do on a daily basis fulfills your bigger goal or purpose in life? Try tracking these tasks for a week to see if you are spending your time where you should. 2. Pause regularly Take small mini breaks often to think about what you are doing and if that task truly benefits your goals or just take a break to breathe and think about nothing. It’s amazing how thinking about nothing can give you clarity. Don’t wait till you are frantic to do this one. 3. Listen or read something positive everyday I have a few books on my night stand that I read to boost my mood, they are short quotes and words of wisdom. Reading something positive can put you in a positive mood. 4. Think about your thoughts Ever find yourself creating negative scenarios or outcomes from the simplest challenges or ever find yourself unnecessarily self-critical? Be mindful of this and when negative thoughts creep into your mind be aware of it and start thinking positive. 5. Drink water This sounds simple, but it can be challenging, I’ve been working on drinking a gallon of water a day, and wow what a difference it has made for me in every way - skin, weight loss and just feeling good overall. 6. Exercise Easier said than done for some, start small by taking a walk every day. I started this way and ended running a half marathon because the walking turned into running and once I got the bug it was hard to stop. Start with simple 1K walk and see where it goes. 7. Readjust and reboot If you find yourself spending too much time in one area of your life and ignoring the others, take a step back and reflect what you are missing out on and readjust. For example if you are neglecting your health, start with a small change daily such as going for a walk. Keep in mind, you have an entire year to meet your goals, so don’t give up if something is not working just readjust your goals and reboot your mind for a fresh start. You can have a resolution restart the first of every month. How awesome is that. These 7 tips are things keep up with on a daily basis, as there is no pressure with a start and end date to reach a goal. For example, drinking water is not something you are going to stop doing once you lose your goal weight, right? So keep practicing daily and if you forgot to pause today, well there is always tomorrow. Give it a try and see how it works for you. I will be back next week with more simple marketing tips. See you then. |
