It is important that your business page is claimed on google, as most people will either search Google or Google Maps on their mobile phone to look you up. This simple task can mean the difference between being found or not. It is important that your business page is claimed on google, as most people will either search www.google.com or google maps on their mobile phone to look you up. Doing this simple task takes a few minutes and can make a big difference. You will need to sign up for a google account. Once you do so, go to https://www.google.com/business/ then click on get on google (top right corner), a screen asking you to find your business will pop up. Follow the instructions from there. The screen below to the left is the first one you will see once you click on: https://www.google.com/business/ and the screen to the right is one you will see once you click on Get on Google, this where you enter your business name or address. 2. Complete your Social Media profiles: Complete your social media profile pages with all relevant contact information including your complete address, phone number, email, contact phone number with an alternative and website information. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been to a Facebook page to find contact details or a website and there isn't one listed. Let’s face it we can’t all get on the first page of google so the next best thing is to make sure your social media pages have complete information so that people can find you there. For me personally, I have used Facebook on many occasions to find a business especially if I want to get a better idea of what they are all about it. For some shameless self promotion take a look at my page to see how I've completed every piece of required information. Marketing with Farzanah 3. Use keywords on your website: Use keywords that are relevant to your business throughout your website where it makes sense. Do this by understanding how people are searching for you and what they type into google when they need your service or product. Once you know the relevant keywords they use for searches, this will help you to better understand your customer needs and in turn you can build your site to provide expert service, advice and products. Everybody wins. However, make sure the language you use on your site is human and not robotic SEO talk. Use the relevant keywords on your landing page and pages that gets visited most often. Also, if you have a physical location, make sure people can find it easily on your site, and if the neighborhood you are in has a nickname, or there is an obvious landmark, please state it on your site, this is really helpful. For keyword search, go the link https://adwords.google.com/KeywordPlanner and type in keywords that are relevant to your business to understand how they are searched on a monthly basis. You can play around with this tool and get ideas on how your business is being searched. You will need to have a Gmail account for this. Another simpler way to research your keyword is to go to www.google.com and type in the first 2 or 3 words relevant to your business sit back and see what the search defaults to. ![]()
